Georgia State women's basketball has signed two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the Spring signing period, head coach Lea Henry-Manning announced Thursday. High school seniors Eboni Fields and Danyielle McKeller will join the Lady Panthers as freshmen for the 2006-07 season.

"We are delighted to add Eboni and Danyielle to our program during this signing period," Henry-Manning said. "They are tremendous athletes and will fit in well here at Georgia State in terms of our style of play and the type of competition we face in the Colonial Athletic Association."

Fields played for head coach Otis Smart at Laney Comprehensive High School in Augusta, Ga. She is a 5-6 point guard who averaged 21 points, five rebounds, eight assists and five steals per game for the Wildcats. Fields, who led Laney in scoring all four years, completed her high school career with 2,081 points and was a honorable mention McDonald's all-American.

As a senior, the Augusta Chronicle named Fields first-team all-Area and the Region 7 Class AA Player of the Year. She was awarded Class AA first-team all-State honors from the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution tabbed Fields to the 2006 Class AA all-State second team.

A standout student, Fields was also named Miss Laney, which is a distinction of high esteem and is given to the female student who best represents the ideals of the school's founder, Lucy Craft Laney. Fields, who owns a 3.8 grade-point average, has been ranked No. 2 in her class all four years and is the likely salutatorian. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.

"Eboni is a scoring point guard who sees the floor very well," Henry-Manning continued. "She's a hard worker on the court as well as in the classroom and we expect her to contribute immediately and help our team."

McKeller leaves Westover High School as the school's all-time leader in points (1,585), field goals made (36) and free throws made (295). She played 110 career games and averaged 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals as a forward for head coach Gene Arrington and the 2006 Mid-Southeastern Conference regular season and tournament champion Wolverines.

A 5-11 native of Fayetteville, N.C., McKeller is a four-time all-Conference selection who led the league in scoring in 2005 (16.7 ppg) and 2006 (17.5 ppg). She was the conference's most valuable player as a junior, and garnered honorable mention all-State honors in 2005 and first-team all-State accolades in 2006 from the Fayetteville Observer. McKeller was named first-team all-Cape Fear Region as a junior and senior. Her 2004-05 Wolverines' team ranked seventh in the state among 4A schools with a 24-6 record. Westover moved to third overall in 2005-06 after compiling a 27-3 mark.

"Danyielle is a very good addition to our post rotation," commented Henry-Manning. " She is a solid rebounder with good size and skill around the basket. Her athleticism will be a big bonus for us."

McKeller and Fields join Rashay Rawls (Augusta, Ga./Cross Creek HS), Monica Mann (Smyrna, Ga./Campbell HS) and Tabitha David (Mableton, Ga./Pebblebrook HS) as members of the 2006-07 Lady Panthers' squad. Rawls, Mann and David committed to State in November.

Georgia State completed its inaugural season as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association with a 9-20 overall record. The Lady Pathers finished 3-15 in the league race and advanced to the tournament quarterfinals after a first-round upset victory over the fifth-seeded Tribe of William & Mary.

The Panthers' "paint gang" all return, making Georgia State a force inside for next year. Rashad Chase, Justin Billingslea and Deven Dickerson stand 6-7, 6-8 and 6-9, respectively, and the trio combined for 578 points, 355 rebounds and 84 blocked shots this season. Ranard Robinson, a 6-11 center, should also be ready a.Georgia State has to learn how to maintain a lead. The Panthers led an opponent this season by five or more points during 19 of its 28 games yet had just seven overall wins to show for it.s well
