Lanny Smith scored 20 points and Brian Latham had 17 points and 18 rebounds to lead Houston to a 64-to-60 overtime win against East Carolina.
The Pirates (7-14, 1-7) led 35-to-28 at the break after Houston (14-6, 5-3 Conference USA) shot only 28-point-six-percent from the field.
But the Cougars' shooting improved as steadily as East Carolina's offense deteriorated in the second half and regulation ended with a 56-56 tie. The Pirates collapsed in overtime, making just one of eight shots and only two of six free-throws. Houston sank two of its five field goal looks in the extra period, and made three of six from the line for the win. Jeremy Ingram led the Pirates with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ingram had three 3-pointers and was five-for-five on free throws. Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 8 of 8 } { Next Page } |
